Youth Ministry

The EPC  Rebel Youth Group reaches out to both middle and high school students throughout the Elizabeth area. The Rebel name comes from a song by Lacrae (a Christian rap artist) that describes Jesus as a rebel. The group's theme line is "Join God's Rebellion" (against secularism).

The Rebels meet in the lower level of the church on Monday evenings from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. for fun, fellowship and learning. The learning part often includes delving into the Christian subthemes seen in many of today’s movies. The group reviews scenes from the movies, talks about them, then reviews related Scripture passages.

In addition to the weekly meetings, Youth Director Nathan Travis hosts TFNT (That Friday Night Thing) at his home about once a month. Nothing serious. Just pizza, video games, foosball, maybe a little jumping on the trampoline, and general hanging out. The group regularly attends annual events such as the Dare 2 Share Conference. And occasionally, as they did this past New Year's Eve, there will be a lock-in at the church with the youth and adult volunteers. No mission trip is as yet planned for this coming summer, but that's another thing the group tries to work into their busy year.

As an outreach to the youth community, Nathan and other skaters from the group often take a cooler full of cold drinks, their Bibles and boards, and go hang out at nearby skate parks.
