Meet Our Staff

Dr. Bruce A. Spear is the new pastor of EPC. Bruce and his wife, Susan, have been residents of the Denver area for more than three decades. After receiving his Master of Divinity degree from Denver Seminary in 1991, he joined Bear Creek Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Lakewood where he served for 16 years. While at Bear Creek, a mid-size church with about 450 members, Bruce was Associate Pastor in charge of adult education, congregational care and small groups..

Just prior to joining EPC, Bruce served as interim pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church for a year. There, he became known and loved, helping to stablize attendance, maintain stewardship levels, revitalize fellowship programs and even build a new roof, debt-free.

Susan, a teacher and instructional coach, is also an accomplished musician and, in fact, served as organist and accompanist at Corona Presbyterian Church in Denver for two and a half years.

Ralph Owen, a long-time member of the EPC Praise Team, has stepped up to lead the team as the church’s interim part-time contemporary music director.

A self-taught singer and guitarist, Ralph has played in several bands and performed solo many times over the years. He’s also an accomplished composer, having written some 75 songs. He has performed two of his own compositions as part of the EPC Praise Team.

Born and raised in St. Louis, Ralph is married with six children. His son, Patrick, also plays and sings with the Praise Team.

Nathan Travis, our part-time youth director, has brought new energy and vitality to the Rebel youth group, which reaches out to both middle and high school students around the area. The Rebel name comes from a song by Lacrae (a Christian rap artist) that describes Jesus as a rebel. The group’s theme line is “Join God’s Rebellion” (against secularism).

Nathan grew up as part of the body of Christ at Elizabeth Presbyterian Church. His family has attended here since before most of us can remember. It was while active in the youth group as a kid that he became truly committed to the Lord. Out of gratitude for the way his life was changed back then, Nathan has become dedicated to helping other young people experience that same transformation.

Nathan is currently a student at Colorado Christian University, taking courses in nonprofit organizational management and youth ministry. He lives in Elizabeth, about a block from the church, with his twin boys, Alex and Logan, and his daughter Ashlyn.
