In September of 2004, in response to growth, and out of desire to
bring a truly impactful ministry of service to the Elizabeth
community, the congregation of EPC authorized its leadership to
begin the process of planning for the expansion of church
facilities.
With the help of grants from the Presbytery of Denver, two
residential properties were purchased across the street to the north
of the sanctuary. These properties will provide all the necessary
parking space required for a new sanctuary that will seat
approximately 300 people, and provide expanded Christian Ed space on
the floor below. The new building will be constructed on the
property presently occupied by the manse and courtyard. In Phase II,
plans call for the present sanctuary to be rebuilt to provide a
long-needed fellowship hall, which would also function as a mission
center for our youth and seniors ministries, food bank and other
mission activities.
Originally, plans called
for completion of at least Phase I by late 2010. However, that
timetable has been relaxed due to the departure of our previous
pastor and the necessity of focusing on the pastor search process.
As EPC makes its way through this transitional time, the
congregation continues to carry out and even expand its mission in
the Elizabeth community.
When things get back to
normal,
we hope to
resume our plans to build a more mission-capable facility. The theme
for our campaign is BUILD HIS MISSION. This theme recognizes that,
in order to bring our plans to fulfillment, we ourselves must be
built into a more mission-driven congregation.
Our community is a rich mission field where nearly half the people
are living their lives and raising their children without God. We
live in a nation that is risking God’s wrath by its sinful behavior,
a nation that is divided, torn, in need of healing and spiritual
renewal.
We want to be prepared
for works of service. We want
to be built up until we reach that unity in the faith, and we are
mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. We
want to be that body that
grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.
Because then we can confidently join God in the work he has already
begun in our community and the world, the work of reconciliation,
the work of leading our community
back to God.

Expansion Drawings.
