Our Behind-the-Scenes Teams

As with any successful effort, many people are at work behind the scenes to make the organization function as smoothly as possible in the accomplishment of its mission. EPC has many teams, each with specific responsibilities. These teams need volunteers just as much as the more visible groups. And they’re every bit as important.

The teams meet regularly and are “relational” in addition to functional. That is, the people involved with each team really get to know each other as time goes on. Typically, they meet in each others’ homes. They share their hopes, dreams and needs. They pray for each other, for the success of their work and for the success of EPC.

Facilities & Grounds Team. When the furnace goes out, when the roof leaks, when a light bulb needs changing, when the sidewalks need shoveling and the parking lot needs plowing, the Facilities & Grounds Team is the one that takes care of it. The team is responsible for all the buildings owned by the church (main building, manse and rental property) as well as the grounds around them, sewer lines and all. Presently, the F&G Team is looking at some ways to brighten up the sanctuary and improve the appearance of our place of worship. If you’re handy with tools and equipment, or you have a flare for color, or just want to help with some of the tough jobs around the church, contact Gil Reynolds 303-646-9155.

Finance Team. This is the team that manages everything having to do with the money you give to EPC, and whatever money comes in from various fund raising efforts. The team handled the installation of our accounting software, Logos. With the help of the EPC treasurer, an accounting expert, the team is now responsible for using Logos to prepare and manage the EPC budget, and to prepare regular financial reports, keeping session aware of our financial status at all times. The team also manages the stewardship program and is looking at ways to improve the long-term financial health of the church. If you have a way with numbers and a desire to see EPC succeed financially, this team needs you. Contact John Bussie at 303-646-3540.

Communications Team. This is the team that is responsible for communicating and promoting the image, the ministries, the programs and selected activities of the church, both to the people of the church and the people of the broader community. The team developed and is managing the EPC website which is now complete. They also developed the general brochure and ministry pamphlets now available on the information table in the church foyer. In addition, they work with other teams, like the Mission & Outreach Team, to promote events like the Mission Field Day, producing all banners, signage, fliers and other promotional pieces. When advertising can be afforded to promote special Easter and Christmas services, etc., the team takes care of that, as well. If you have a talent for writing, graphics, photography or marketing, you are needed on this team. Contact Phil Wood at 303-688-3136.

Human Resources Team. This is the church personnel department, dealing with development of job descriptions, screening and interviewing employee candidates, handling regular performance evaluations and otherwise working to improve relations between the church and its employees. Making sure the church has reasonable expectations, and making sure the employee is fully aware of those expectations – and is working to meet them – is the key focus of this very important team. This is a new team at EPC. Managing our human resources has not always been handled well. If you have talents in this area, you can make a significant difference in the overall effectiveness of EPC. Please contact Tom Duggan at 303-646-3690.

Visitation Team. Visiting personally with people – one on one, two on two – is a way to show them they are loved and accepted. It’s key to knitting us all together as the body of Christ. In a growing environment, this cannot be left up to the pastor alone. Visiting recent new guests is needed to help them feel welcome. Visiting with regular members is needed to let them know the church cares about them and cares about what’s going on in their lives. Visiting with people who are struggling with life’s burdens, people who are ill, or hospitalized, or shut in, unable to come to church, all of this requires the organized effort of many volunteers. If relating to people is what you do best, you are badly needed on this team. Please contact Steve Castleberry, 303-646-4958.

Worship Team. A worship team is now being assembled to help bring renewed vibrancy and a new level of joy to the worship services at EPC. Within this team there will be two groups, one working to enhance traditional worship, and one working to enhance contemporary worship. The team will work with the pastor and with those responsible for the music in each service. They will coordinate the involvement of individuals, families and children in the actual leading of worship, whether it be the lighting of candles, responsive calls to worship, reading of Scripture, leading in prayer, drama, special music, whatever. The team will also coordinate greeters, displays and colors in the sanctuary, and other aspects affecting our worship services. If you have a passion for joyful worship, your presence is needed on this team. Contact Pastor Carlyle at 720-255-5210.
